Some might classify us as thin, but we are sick of feeling like we have to be thinner or feeling bad when we gain a little weight. Eat A Cheeseburger is about the social pressures we feel as women to be the thinnest we can be. The title is meant to be satirical and catchy. We aren’t literally telling every woman to eat a cheeseburger. We are simply encouraging women to speak out against our thin-obsessed society, make fun of it and reminding them to EAT! We think this to be a healthier alternative to those who succumb to cumbersome and restrictive eating habits that may or may not reflect in their body.
Despite your current jean size, I’m sure you’ve had those thoughts of self-criticism. We sure have. And we’re sick of it. This blog makes fun of our society’s obsession with thin and speaks out against the social voice which tells us, “Don’t eat that, you’ll get fat!” and “The thinner you are the better.” We want women everywhere to eat freely, walk freely, look in the mirror freely, step on the scale freely, go jean shopping freely, socialize freely, live freely and embrace who they are freely! We invite you to start by eating a cheeseburger (beef, boca, veggie, soy, turkey and any other kind of burger you can think of) or anything for that matter!
I’m so excited about this site! I see by some comments that you already have some haters. That’s great!!! You make me proud!
Can I have a Western burger with medium fries. You go girls!
I agree, it’s so frustrating! One of my college friends is a model and she scares me with her unhealthy skinny look! She would be so beautiful if she had some more pounds on her! But I don’t think that a cheeseburger is the best other option. I personally prefer to eat healthy food, like vegetables, fish, chicken, fruits, soya products, eggs, and only from time to time to have a cake or a milkshake or a cheeseburger. But I never give up chocolate! 😉
I also believe that it is not good to over eat, or to eat food that leads to high blood presure or diabetis.
PS: Today, at lunch, I’ll have broccolli with tomatoe sauce, and fish. Yummy! 😀
But what if you’re a vegetarian…?
Veggieburgers. Lola, we here at cheeseburger don’t discriminate.
What about portabella mushroom burger? Those are really good, and taste oddly like meat if properly grilled.
April
Oooh, those are good. I should buy some portabellas next time I go to the store.
Great site! Thanks for the comment on my site. We need as many voices as possible de-bunking and deconstructing cultural and media images around thinness. I had a woman say to me today: My college friends don’t like me when I’m like this, 20 lbs heavier. Now this was a tiny woman–20 lbs lighter and I think she’d disappear. We have truly gotten to the point where there is no such thing as “thin enough.” Somethings got to give.
I grew up thinking that if you wanted people to like you, or even love you, you’d better be skinny with big boobs and not talk too much. So, I spent my life undereating, I got a boob job, and became an expert at saying the right thing at the right time (and not too much of it). I was obsessed. And to some extent, I still am. Now that I am older, I want to enjoy my life without obsessing about my looks, but it is hard to recover from such a militant, unrealistic approach to your self image. It scars you… for a very long time. The truth is, no matter what you look like on the outside, we are all precious on the inside. We all have wonderful hidden treasures within. And we all deserve love and respect regardless of what we look like. Now, if someone can help me believe it, that would be a miracle.
I am pleased with your efforts. Keep up the good work!
i am proud to be in the company of one who has taken the battle against the western-world beatuy myth to the people. reaction is to be welcomed but to stoke action and critical thought has proven to be quite the task for bloggers today. i believe your thoughtful and provocative content, discourse will continue to empower, arm those whom have been squeezed into dresses too small, paradigms too passive and experiences starved of life and joy.
cheers! (i hoist a cheeseburger in your honor)
I am so, SO happy I found this website, and I’m going to be checking it regularly from now on. You girls rock!
Hi folks at EAC! I’ve just spent a few hours reading your posts, and I’m digging your message, especially your “challenge” of the Thinologistic status quo 😉
I hope you don’t mind, but I added you to my feed (Fat Liberation): http://feeds.feedburner.com/FatLiberation
Cheers,
BigLiberty
I would love to meet you. This site is such fun. I added you to my blogroll. JFS
Great site, I love it. I consider myself healthy, curvey with a happy appetite. I feed my family very balanced, healthy, tasty meals that often include a big fat happy juicy cheeseburger. Sometimes we even have desert after our cheeseburger. It’s all about the balance!
i just added this site to my blogroll! i am so happy to see a site like this!
Love your blog and just wanted to let you know that every time I write a post about cheeseburgers, I link it to your site. Maybe you’ll get some new followers from it. 🙂 I just linked to you from my rutabagas.wordpress.com food blog on a post that has a picture of me eating a cheeseburger.
oOoOohhh…wow.
I love this place. I think I’ll lurk here from now on.
I love this site! All the pressure realy is horrible. It’s like you’re completely worthless if you have an ounce of extra fat on you, and it isn’t right. I’ll definitly check for updates every now and then 😀
Oh, and I added you to my blogroll at luinriel.wordpress.com, hope you don’t mind 😀
Excellent blog!
Awesome idea for a blog. p.s. I’d like a little bacon and maybe some crushed red pepper on mine! 🙂
I’m confused. I’ve got this cheeseburger sitting here, and I’m just confounded as to how to consume this thing. I’ve tried to put it in my ear and that doesn’t seem to be working. It’s getting cold!
All joking aside, though, I enjoy your blog and fully support the FA movement. Also, I really enjoy your graphic photos of cheeseburgers, they’re just amazing.
I *love* this blog. I just discovered it today and I have to say I have shared this with everyone I can get to listen to me 😉
That’s a great idea for a blog. Nowadays everyones is obsessed with how they look and not how healthy they are.
I love this website…Thank you for reminding me that being healthy is more important than being thin…. 🙂
The message you are sending out is just phenomenal. If you don’t mind, I’d like to add you to my blogroll. I think your words should reach as many people as possible.
Keep up the good work!

This blog is great. I really enjoy reading it. I’m all about being healthy, but not overdoing it. I’ll cut back and eat less when I need to, but I won’t deprive myself of the things I love. Who wants to live like that!
Keep doing what you’re doing. Nice blog.
Love it, love it, love it. Just added you to my blogroll too.

I’m way late, but wanted to say thank you for this site!! My boyfriend knows me well enough to ask, “Do you *really* not like this particular food or are you just trying to convince yourself not to eat it?” God love him, he would be all about me eating the cheeseburger (or whatever its equivalent might be, depending on time, place, and cravings). Now if only I were.
I’ll eat a double with fried onions, tomato and lot’s of cheese and jalapenos! I’ll pass on the bread not because I’m a carb-phobe but because of my yeast allergy! Yeast will not prevent me from eating a cheesebuger! Jeans were meant to be filled into completely!
Thank you for this inspiring blog.
Thanks for an amazing blog, fantastic messages and makes me feel so much better about myself. x
Wow, what a refreshing concept for a blog. It’s a revolution in the making. I do agree women should live more freely and stop comparing themselves to unrealistic images of models.
Yet I must say that when I look at fashion and fitness magazines I am sometimes inspired to achieve an even greater level of healthfulness and discipline in the area of fitness.
While stick thin super models only make me hungry, I do appreciate the athletic models I see in the various women’s health magazines.
Here’s to freedom! *toasts with a cheeseburger*
Great blog!
thanks for this website!
i feel like i am being pressured to fit in when i travel outside of the u.s.a, since when did a medium size here become an extra extra large in china?! 🙂
Love your blog! Kudos to you!
i LOVE your blog. i don’t see a blogroll, but my blog is very like-minded. i will be reading EAC lots! i hope you like mine too.
great blog!
what’s funny to me is how deeply entrenched the entire “healthy lifestyle” has become in just a few generations. labeling foods “good” and “bad” used to be anorexic behavior, now everyone does it. some elementary schools now ban cupcakes and recommend children keep a food diary, as if obsession with food, and eating as little as possible, is a good thing.
humans are the only animal that derive sensual pleasure from the simple act of refueling. to say that we should only eat bland fat-free salt-free sugar-free taste-free pleasure-free food is to deprive us of a unique trait. be human! eat a cheeseburger and enjoy it!
I found your blog from your Facebook page. I don’t know how I got there…lol. Boredom = browse through friends of friends’ of friends’ profiles. I’m glad I did though. You all have a great blog here! I can’t wait to read more. Now I gotta go eat a cheeseburger. Aloha!
I really like your blog! It’s fantastic to read about people who have a healthy body image and who are not afraid of letting it show. Rock on!

+1
you rock. i read the first few sentences and i know you’re the greatest person alive haha.
I know your blog is well intentioned, but I browsed a bunch of posts, and I can’t help but think that the way you go about this is offensive to thin women. I wouldn’t tell a fat woman to not eat a cheeseburger. Plus, the cheeseburger rule #3, I believe it was, is definitely offensive! If someone is anorexic they need help rather than joking about them needing to eat a cheeseburger. Skinny people shouldn’t be told to gain weight, just like people shouldn’t hound fat women about losing weight. Even though your policy doesn’t condone thin-bashing, the whole tone of this website seems to have an aura of it and it feels like you’ve put that policy in place as a disclaimer. Sorry if I’m misinterpreting you, but it just comes across that way.
Eating a boca as we speak. Also just had the most amazing slices of pie – vegan coconut cream and lemon meringue! Freaking delicious. Honestly better than any dessert I’ve had previously, dairy or otherwise.
Ladies, be it known that there are plenty of men who appreciate a woman with curves.
What I want to know is how you ever allowed style to be dictated by persons whose ideal of beauty is a 14-year-old boy. And many of whom obviously hate you and want you to look ugly.
naturally im a 00. I eat more than cheeseburgers. I love me and my body. I love this site!
